We were very pleased with the authentic Irish fare we had at The Monarch Public House, Fountain City's oldest bar and restaurant. My beloved had Bubble and Squeak - a piping hot dish of mashed potatoes, butter, cheese, roast beef, cabbage and onion. It was delicious. I had the Reuben. The meat on my sandwich was a bit dry and it could have used a bit more dressing, but it was still excellent. We ate outside on the patio because the weather was so nice, but the inside has a lot of character and charm. We had the Fountain City Brew flight of beers. They were fun to try and tasted great. Our favorite was the Porter.
Friendly hosts and awesome vintage bar and restaurant. Good food choices and great for families. They have outdoor seating in good weather and looks out to the Mississippi River

Amazing home cooking. Drive for an hour just for the food. Great people too.
